Is about to become the most hated person in my area!

So...I'm poised to become one of the most hated people in my profession in my immediate area! I am adjudicating at 3 festivals this year - all in voice & choral. Last year was piano, this year is voice, which is great for me - kill the requirements for national adjudicator certification in 2 years instead of 3, but the largest festival I'm at released the names of all of the adjudicators for all disciplines for this year yesterday. I am doing the higher levels of competition over a lady who is older, with far more adjudicating experience (that will be my third festival to adjudicate, it's just that it's all in a span of 6 weeks!) and is teaching at two different universities! Not really sure of the logic behind the festival board's choice of who adjudicates what, but I'm sure she will be utterly unimpressed with that decision as will at least 3 - 4 of the teachers in my immediate area and 2 from other places in the province who will absolutely be ready to spit nails in my face for it.

Should be an interesting ramp up to festival season indeed!

I may be in over my head, but I'll never know until I fail!

None of this fail talk. Each festival has loved you and your approach to this point which has helped get you the other festivals. Remember the organizers complimenting you on your fresh approach to reach the students. Those of the older generation don't have that and some are stuck in their ways. Some don't want to even bother trying.

You have earned where you are in the music festival field and if they have an issue with it that is because they haven't impressed with their "use" of their knowledge enough. When you learn something that will be helpful for a student you tend to get giddy with excitement to let the students know about it. How many others are even willing to listen to new or different training techniques...not many.

Be prepared for there to be an issue but don't go into it expecting an issue. You were hired and invited to be there because you are adored by those needing your input and you give a pleasant attitude to the organizers. I have faith in you that will be the result this upcoming season again.
